I was driving around tonight when I had a thought. It was all about how so few can ruin it for so many. What I figured, was that each one of us, no matter what we do in our day to day lives, represents those things we do. Just by doing them. Everything, from living in a home to driving a car to eating French fries to working certain jobs. We represent everything we do. Ladies represent sitting down to pee, while men represent standing.
The thing is, naturally, that there would be exceptions to the rule. Some men might sit to pee sometimes, for whatever reason. They broke a leg or they’re too drunk to stand. Women might pee standing up in certain events, like a peeing for distance competition, or they’re standing on the corner in broad day light wearing a sun dress and peeing like they don’t give a shit. We’ve all seen it happen. And if you haven’t, I’ve seen it enough to cover for you.
Those would be little sub categories for peeing, and those who fit into those sub categories would, of course, represent those sub categories.
The whole pyramid scheme starts at the tippy top. Every last one of us represents the human race. Some are going to do that better than others. In the vast majority of all people, I’d like to say that most are decent humans. But those who are bad at it, who are shitty people, can completely ruin it for the rest. They may be outnumbered, but because there are well over 7 billion people on the planet, even being a minority still means your kind is everywhere, interacting with everyone.
Their kind ruins it for everybody by just being complete jackholes. Personally, I now suffer from general public anxiety. I hate being around the general public. I didn’t use to be that way. But the more people I met, the more I hated all people. When in reality, I know that not all people are bad. My anxiety keeps me from having long term relationships with people, if I can even get a relationship started, because I hate meeting new people. Just ten years ago I had a bunch of friends. Now, I really only hang out with my wife. Rarely do I speak with anybody else, and usually then it’s only online. And even that can suck sometimes.
What those jackholes don’t care about, is that they represent the human race, like all of us do. It’s how we choose to represent it that defines who we are as humans. What they’ve done is make me, and people like me, not want to interact with them, so we avoid all people to make sure that doesn’t happen.
The same can be said for anything. Not all lawyers are bad…
… but some of us might want to avoid all lawyers just because they had a bad experience with one.
Not all cops are bad, but the media only ever reports the things the bad ones do. So now a lot of people are terrified of the police, when the vast majority of police are great people who truly want to serve and protect the innocent. But those who are terrified don’t want to take the chance of running into a bad one, so they are scared to meet any.
Not all black people are bad, not all white people are bad, not all hillbillies or rednecks or Chinese, Indian, Muslim, gay, straight, transwhatever, teachers, judges, kids, seniors… The only group of people who were all bad were Nazi’s. Their pyramid came crashing down because of it.
At the top we have the human race, and then underneath is when we start getting those smaller categories and sub categories. One of those, among all the others, happens to be the one that contain people who judge everyone of a certain category based on the actions of a few. You can do that, but know that you’re representing a shitty category. And the better you represent it, the shittier both you and the category get.
What we must realize, is that we are all in this together. Until we have another planet or space station to move on to, we have nowhere else to go. This planet might be big, but we cover it. We need to learn how to live with one another if we’re all going to have a good time.
Besides, when the Martians come, they’re going to attack and kill all of us anyway. So says the Supreme Being Overlord.
