Live Friday Nights: Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb

This song is pretty much the song that made me want to do this prompt. I can’t stop watching it. Any time I feel like I need to hear some live music, this is the first song I go to. I can’t get my night started without it. I mean, you can’t go wrong with Pink Floyd anyway, but transcends everything else they’ve ever done. For me, anyway.

Released in 1995 but recorded in 1994 during their Division Bell tour, this is the Pulse live double album, particularly the DVD version. It was recorded at Earl’s Court in London, which is one of the more amazing venues for concerts in the world. I mean, bands like Pink Floyd play there.

While the entire concert is amazing, this song blows them all away. It’s played just a tad bit slower than it is on The Wall, and at first that threw me off. But now I get it. It sets the mood. It relaxes you, gets you into the groove, then rocks your face off at the end with excellent music, excellent visuals, and an energy that is hard to find in music these days. If you can engage in this and not feel that energy at the end, I really don’t want to deal with you right now. I got chills watching it just now and I’ve only seen it a kajillion and a half times.
