I have a lot of drafts written and saved, mostly for YouTube Tuesday, One-Liner Wednesday, and Live Friday Nights. Because I never know when I’m going to be able to post, I have those all lined up so that if I have to post on the fly, I can.
The problem I’m noticing, though, is that when I go to post a draft, for whatever reason, it posts it under the date when I first wrote it and saved it as a draft instead of showing that it was posted when I actually posted it. It shouldn’t do that. For as long as I’ve been using WP it has never done that until now.
I try to always check the date before I post, but sometimes I don’t, and that’s when the troubles start. Because I catch that it posted under the wrong date AFTER I posted, so I have to go back and change the post date so that it’s right. However, that changes the URL of the post. So when all of you who follow me get your emails that I have a new post and you click the link, it takes you to a page that doesn’t exist because I probably got the date changed before you clicked it. And the blog isn’t going to send out a new email saying what the new URL is.
The YouTube Tuesday I posted this week is one of the posts that got messed up, and one last week I believe. MY BAD. If it ever happens again, and it probably will because I’m not perfect despite what I like to tell people, just go to my home page and you’ll see the new piece at the top of the page. Hopefully one day soon this will stop happening.
