Online Money Advance

My wife and I perpetually live paycheck to paycheck and quite often we run out of funds well before our next check. We’re used to it, but sometimes it really sucks, like this week. This week is Thanksgiving, and we have no money. Like, I got paid last Friday and by Sunday we were broke. Some people say broke as in they still have their savings account, but they don’t want to spend it because it’s where they want it to be. I say broke and mean it.

In order to get through the rest of the week, and to be able to make it the almost hour drive to Jen’s family’s house for Thanksgiving, we need a few extra bucks. So I turned to money advance apps. If you look, there are quite a few now.

I first saw them advertised on Facebook with Cleo. Cleo promises to give you a $100 advance, except, after I tried, I discovered you have to jump through some hoops to get it done.

After I tried a few of these, hoping to get a few extra bucks before payday so I could make it through the rest of the week, I discovered Dave.

Dave says they’ll give you an advance of up to $75. I signed up and was quickly denied access to the app because of my bank account or something.

My wife decided to try a couple, and went with Dave, and used my info, and got it signed up. I don’t understand how she could do it when I couldn’t, but as of now it doesn’t really matter.

We signed up for the advance and was approved for $75. The app said it could be delivered immediately, or take up to 8 hours. 8 hours from when we were approved was yesterday morning at 6 AM. By then we still hadn’t gotten it. We went back to the Dave app to find out we were expected to get it by 6 PM, which was 12 hours more than 8 hours. By 6 PM we still hadn’t gotten it, so my wife contacted them and we were told a ticket was submitted, but we’ve yet to get a response.

It has now been over 24 hours since we were supposed to get it at 6 AM, two more emails were sent, no response has been given to us and we know nothing. But I read a bunch of reviews saying advances were never given, but when it came time to pay the advance back, the app took the money back. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen, but so far nothing has gone right, so it probably will.

My lesson for you in all of this? Do good in school and get a good job so you don’t have to deal with this shit. Happy Thanksgiving.
